If you want to disable (or enable) the windows Xp balloon tips, perform the following changes to the Windows registry.

Click on
START > RUN and type
regedit
Then click on
Ok button.
The
Registry Editor, will be appeared.
Now, you can choose if to disable or enable the balloon tips for an user or all users.
Disable or enable notification Area Balloon Tips in Windows XP for this user only
In the left pane of the
Registry Editor, navigate to the following subkey (making double click on each registry key):
HKEY_CURRENT_USER
Software
Microsoft
Windows
CurrentVersion
Explorer
Advanced
Now, in the right pane of the
Registry Editor locate and make double click on the following registry subkey named
EnableBalloonTips
If not, make it. In this case, in the right pane of the
Registry Editor, right click in the white space and choose
NEW > DWORD Value to create a new subkey.
Name it
EnableBalloonTips
Now, make double click on it.
A new window will be appeared.
Setting for
Value Data:
0 (read ZERO) to disable balloon tips
1 (read ONE) to enable balloon tips
Then click on
Ok button.
Exit the Registry Editor.
Restart the computer.
Disable or enable notification Area Balloon Tips in Windows XP for all users
In the left pane of the
Registry Editor, navigate to the following subkey (making double click on each registry key):
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
Software
Microsoft
Windows
CurrentVersion
Explorer
Advanced
Now, in the right pane of the
Registry Editor locate and make double click on the following registry subkey named
EnableBalloonTips
If not, make it. In this case, in the right pane of the
Registry Editor, right click in the white space and choose
NEW > DWORD Value to create a new subkey.
Name it
EnableBalloonTips
Now, make double click on it.
A new window will be appeared.

Then click on
Ok button.
